Grand Boys Successful Trip to Italy

The Grand Boys travelled to Italy in July/August this year and played three very successful gigs in Torre Santa Suzanna near Brindisi in the very south of the country. With temperatures in the high thirty’s it was difficult wearing those kilts! We were in the heart of the working class Italians with vineyards and olive orchards all around us and it certainly beats those perfect holiday resorts. We hired a car to get about the place and learned very quickly how to react to those mad Italian drivers – don’t be courteous to them, let them know you are in charge!!

We were looked after extremely well by Antonio Varratta my friend who owns the lovely restuarant below in Torre. A big thank you to Carmelo too for all the help he gave us with the equipment and sound and also to Antonio’s son Martino for looking after us and helping with translations and stuff.

Antonio had fixed us up in San Nicola Bed & Breakfast on the outskirts of Torre Santa Susanna and the facilities were excellant and we were well looked after by Nicola himself and his helper Anna. If any of you people out there want to visit this part of Italy then this is the place to stay, have a look at the website and Antonio’s restaurant, ‘The Grange’ is the place to eat .

It was a tremendous experience and one we will treasure. We have been asked back so hopefully they will not have seen the last of The Grand Boys.

Here is a picture of ‘ The Grange’ in Torre Santa Susanna where we dined as Antonio’s guests. It boasts Quality Service, Logfire Oven, Large Variety of Local Wine, Specialized in Home Made Produce and a variety of Beers available . Tel. 338/8104807.
