THE GRAND BOYS NEW 17 TRACK CD ‘ Keys to the Door’ will be available at the shop soon. It is being released to mark The Band reaching 21 years.

The Grand Boys Shop opened in 1998 and stocks a wide range of second hand furniture and household items which are donated by the general public. The shop initially was leased rent free from The Scottish Co-op Funeral Service in Scotland, and has since been significantly livened up…ahem! We now have a long term lease on the premises for a nominal £1.00 per year. At present we have eight volunteers who keep the shop open on a rota basis. The volunteers are  Ellen, Carole, Margaret, Jean, Terry, Evelyn and Tracy who are all doing a great job. The shop is now open most weekends till 1.00pm.

Everyone is welcome to visit the shop and view our lovely furniture and household items which is all kindly donated by the general public.

Goods purchased from the shop can be delivered if requested and a suitable time can be arranged as long it is not immediately !

The Shop accepts furniture and household goods which MUST be CLEAN and in GOOD CONDITION. We have not got time or staff to be cleaning goods. Please don’t leave any goods at front of shop when not open it’s extra work for us. Any fabric goods eg. lounge suites, beds & mattresses MUST comply with present day fire regulations, these tabs are clearly attached to fabric goods. Chest/drawers,wardrobes,tables/chairs,bookshelves,TV units, coffee tables, general household bric a brac, ornaments, pictures are all items that we can sell on . Large lounge display units are not accepted in the shop as they are very hard to sell on and we don’t have room for storage.

There is a large stock of beautiful items in at present. Single & Double beds, a large selection of 3 piece and 2 piece suites , 2 seater sofa, reclining armchairs, chest of drawers,  bookshelves, wardrobes,  sideboard, ,dining tables, coffee tables, and loads of bric a brac and household items. Contact the shop during the opening hours above 01786 810868 to make enquiries.

If you can’t drop the items off to the shop yourself just phone 01786 810868 during opening hours and leave your details and we can get back to you to make arrangements. However if you urgently require goods to be uplifted you will have to go elsewhere as we can’t respond immediately. Also if the shop is full we cannot take goods in until the stock goes down. We prefer to uplift in the Stirling area only and to keep it as local as possible which saves time and fuel, however we will travel further if the goods being donated are worth the journey. Please understand !

In August 2005 we were successful in a Grant Award from Increase Programme ( Scottish Executive ) for nearly £30,000 to have the shop refurbished. The National Lottery Awards for All granted us a further £5,000 to refit the Kitchen/workshop area, new signage ,form paths and decorate interior. Stirling Council Local Development Fund granted us another £15,000 towards a new van which is now on the road. In 2009 we were awarded £10,000 from The Coalfields Trust which installed security camera, new carpet tiles throughout shop, laminating flooring in kitchen and toilet, office refurbishment and interior decor

A big thankyou goes to these groups for ensuring The Grand Boys work goes on.

In early 2009 we were successful in a grant award from The Coalfields Project. We received £10,000 and this money enabled us to renew all the carpet tiles throughout the shop, laminate flooring in kitchen and toilet, fit security camera outside, full interior decor, refurbish office, various electrical improvements carried out. This has improved the shop greatly and we would like to thank all the staff at The Coalfields Project in Alloa for their help.

Before works began on the shop it was in very poor condition as you can see from this photo taken in October 2005. It was turning into an eyesore and ready to fall down!

After works were completed, the results are clear to be seen and the shop is vastly improved. We will be eternally grateful for the grant award as I don’t think the old shop above would have withstood another winter.

We would also like to apologise to any members of the public who have phoned to offer furniture to The Grand Boys and never had it uplifted. The only thing I can say is that we are trying our best. The demand to uplift furniture is so great we can’t always keep up with the demand. But we really do appreciate your phone calls.

Please remember to keep moving when in the shop, or you may be sold!

We would also like to stress that unfortunately, we cannot sell everything you may wish to donate, fabric material eg. beds, suites etc. must be fire resistant before we can sell them on and also saves us from transporting stuff to the dump regularly, which takes time and diesel. So PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED if we decline your kindly donated items. We must abide by the rules and also its just a wee shop!!!

House clearances can also be carried out within the Central Scotland area.

Grand Boys merchandise is also available at shop.
